This video was produced in 2010 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Pioneer Church at Mamornitz, Saskatchewan. This video produced by Dr. Jennie Dutchak and narrated by her son Mark Zayachkowski is an excellent example of preserving the memories of our early Ukrainian communities.
The video is a ground-breaking study of the pioneer church built a hundred years ago in Mamornitz, Saskatchewan. The historical documentary covers all of the important aspects of a rural pioneer church. The topics include: history of the church building, bell tower, names of pioneer members, parish cemetery, priests and cantors, war effort, weddings, baptisms, funerals, Christmas caroling, Easter traditions, church executives and councilors, church membership.
The video can be found here. Answers to questions submitted during the webinar are posted here. Dr. Dutchak has also provided an update on Mamornitz 2025.
We also have a recording of the Introductory and Conclusion segments from that evening.
